What is the capital of California?

I was outside walking Bosco today, and the little neighbor boy came running over to pet him and say hello. He is 4 years old, and so cute. He stopped petting Bosco and said, "I know all of the capitals!" And I was like, "Wow, you're so smart, I'll quiz you." I asked him "What is the capital of Utah?" and he said, "Salt Lake City." I asked him "What is the capital of Idaho?" and he said "Boise." And then I asked him "What is the capital of California?" And he said, "That's easy! Disneyland!" It was so funny and cute, and just shows how great children are!

The Bachelorette: the Final Two

I must admit that trashy reality tv is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes, that would include anything like the Hills, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and of course the Bachelorette.

So we are down to the final two men: Roberto and Chris.

Will she choose Roberto? Handsome, athletic, front runner.

Or will she choose Chris. Cute, boyish, and innocent. Dark horse of the competition.

Can't wait till next Monday. I hope you will be tuned in. I know, each season gets cheesier and more dramatic, but that is no reason to stop watching. Cast your vote on who Ali will pick: Roberto, Chris. Or neither of them?!

What does this look like to you?!

Anthony and I were laying outside the other day, and we looked up at the sky and saw this cloud. Tell me what you think it looks like?

This was after a few seconds, so the cloud moved, but it still looks like a........

It's totally a bunny rabbit! Right? That's what we saw anyways.

An Afternoon up in the Canyon

Anthony and I took Bosco up the canyon. It was SO hot, so we decided to get in the river. This was Bosco's first time 'swimming.' Bulldogs can't swim because they are so top heavy, and their poor bodies just sink right to the bottom! So we figured a few inches of water would cool him down and let him feel like a real dog who could swim!

Isn't he the cutest pup? I think he was freezing despite all of his fur. The water was SO cold!

Bosco gets winded after about two minutes of walking. Bulldogs are not known for endurance, so it's always a task to get him to go on walks. We were ambitious by making him walk up the canyon.

So once we found a nice place to rest, Bosco decided to gather all the pine cones he could find! He sniffed around the trees and brought them back to where we were sitting. There are tons more behind him--you just can't see them lol

It was a relaxing and fun afternoon, and I am glad we live in such a beautiful place. They have a little food stand that opened a ways up the canyon that serves hot dogs and root beer floats. We are getting those next time!

BREAD

I made bread this week, and it acutally turned out to be good! I don't have the greatest luck with bread doughs, but I have made this recipe twice now, and both times have been successful. I got this recipe from my friend Tonya--she is like Martha Stewart. I hope to be like Tonya one day! This is the easiest recipe, and if I can make it, then so can you!

This is how much the dough should rise after 2 hours.

These are the 3 bagettes I formed. They are all different sizes...apparently I am not so good at dividing the dough evenly! :)

The finished product! It looks so French bakery!

3 cups warm water
2 Tbsp. yeast (saf)
1 1/2 Tbsp. Kosher Salt
Exactly 6 1/2 cups bread flour

Mix all ingredients in mixer, and put in a bowl, cover with seran wrap for 2 hours. After it rises for 2 hours, place the dough in the fridge for a minimum of 3 hours. Next, cut off 1/3 of the dough. Flour the counter or board, and roll the dough into bagette form. Do this two more times with the remaining dough. Sprinkle corn meal on a cookie sheet, and place bagettes onto the cookie sheet. Raise for 40 more minutes. Make 1/4 inch slices on the top of each bagette. Brush with olive oil, seeds, etc. Put a cookie sheet full of water on the lower oven rack so the bread will steam. Then place the cookie sheet with the 3 bagettes in a 450 degree oven. Bake for 30 minutes.

Enjoy!

Freedom Run

So, for the 4th of July some of my aunts, my mother-in-law, my mom, and I ran the Freedom Run. When I say we 'ran' I mean we totally walked! It was only a 5K, but none of us were in the condition to run the 3 miles! The 5K route connected to the 10K route all along the parade route. As we were walking by, all of the people there for the parade would yell to us, "You're doing great! Keep it up! You're almost there!" They thought we were runners who had given up since we were the only ones walking! They didn't know that we were intentionally walking. It was pretty funny.

My mother-in-law Lori, my lovely self, Aunt Rikki, Aunt Sandra, Aunt Lisa, and my mom

It was a great day--other than the fact that we had to wake up at 5:30am, because the race started really early. And my cousin Aarean was supposed to run (walk, let's be honest) it with us, but she wouldn't wake up that early. She probably would have run it, and she is the pregnant one!
